Why?
During one of the recruitment processes, I took part while looking for a job I was asked to create a prototype of a mobile application for kids so they can book a taxi (company: FREENOW, Spain).
I created a plan for a design process including the following steps:
- Market Research – What are the solutions and ideas of our competitors?
- Focus Groups with kids
- Personas Creation
- Ideation, brainstorming
- Sketching, prototyping
- Usability Testing with kids
- Expert Usability Testing
- Redesigning, Prototyping, Testing
Persona
Having used the information I gained during my conversation with the team of the UX Designers based in Barcelona and based on the results from my ‘market research’ I created a Persona. See below.
Ideation Results
Knowing our Persona’s needs and frustrations I listed a few ideas and goals:
- Make an app which is easy to use by adding icons with favourite destinations, e.g.: home, friends’ addresses, school, dancing classes
- Make this app user-friendly by adding basic info about drivers attached to the cars on the map e.g.: ‘the fastest trip’, ‘the cheapest trip’, ‘the comfiest trip’
- Make it safe by sending notifications to parents with the driver’s contact number, info about the destination
- Make it fun by letting kids choose a fictional vehicle or to create one e.g. ‘stinky ping-pong’
Prototyping
Here are some samples of the wireframes I created using Figma.
Kids. Things to consider
While creating prototypes I thought of a few topics that should be covered as we are dealing with infants.
